1890 Capacity Building Grants Program
The 1890 Capacity Building Grants Program (CBG) is a competitive grants program funded by US Department of Agriculture. CBG is designed to support Teaching, Research and Extension capabilities in Agricultural Sciences at 1890 institutions. Visit the USDA website to obtain additional information.
Proposals
- Proposals are typically due in January of each year. A faculty member interested in submitting a proposal is encouraged to contact the Department Chair in the Fall semester.

- Detailed information regarding completion of CRIS forms as well as a USDA contact name is emailed during the summer to the Director/PI of those proposals selected for funding. All communication from the PI/PD should be directed to the contact person identified in the email.
Annual or Termination Reports
- Annual or Termination reports for these projects are to be submitted electronically within 90 days of the anniversary date. Notification for submission of annual and termination reports will be sent by USDA program leaders for 1890 Capacity Building research, teaching, and extension programs (SERD).
