The Frederick Douglass Library offers several different ways to contact a librarian for assistance with your research needs. 

In Person

  • Librarians are available at the Reference Desk to assist you with your research needs.  The Reference Desk is staffed all times the library is open. 
  • The Reference Desk is located on the first floor, next to the Research Lab.
  • During the Fall and Spring Semesters, there are two librarians available to assist you Sunday from 3:00 pm to midnight and Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to midnight.

Telephone

  • You can reach a librarian at the Reference Desk any time the library is open. 
  • The telephone number is 410-651-7937. 
  • From on-campus you can just dial the extension of 7937.

E-Mail

  •  You can e-mail your question to the Reference Desk.  E-mails will be answered within 24 hours.

Chat Services from Maryland’s 24/7 Virtual Reference Service – Maryland AskUsNow!            

  • Librarians at the Frederick Douglass Library only chat during certain hours, so you may be helped by a non-UMES librarian.
  • If you provide a valid e-mail address, a librarian from the Frederick Douglass Library can follow-up on your question.

The Frederick Douglass Library is pleased to present the new exhibit "From Princess Anne to the Pros: A Small College's Football Legacy".  The exhibit is located on the 2nd floor of the library and runs from September 15, 2009 to February 28, 2010.  Click Here for more information.
