ABI Inform is used to track business conditions, trends, management techniques, corporate strategies, and industry specific topics worldwide. This database provides indexing and abstracting for 1000 periodicals with full text for more than 600 publications.

 To access this database, follow the steps below: 

  1.  Go to the library’s homepage at http://www.umes.edu/fdl

  2.  Click on Databases (Find articles, full text, and more)

  3. Select the category Business/Economics

  4. Click on the General subcategory

  5. Click the ABI Inform database link

    Searching

  1. Enter your search term(s)


2.      Select the desired field(s) to search
It is recommended that you choose the Citation & Abstract option, this will search the following fields:

Author, Personal Name, Abstract, Product Name, Article Title, Subject Terms, Company Name, Source (publication title), Geographical Name

 



 

  1. Click on the search button

The Results

 Once you perform a search, you will see Suggested Topics options and Browse Suggested Publications options.  Use these options to narrow your search. 

 Just below the option boxes are the list of results.  Please note that there are over 4,800 results.  The results are listed in groups of 10.  To see the full record, click on the article title.  This will provide access to the citation information, the abstract, and the full text /  Page Image - PDF if available.

Printing/Emailing/Marking the Results          

 There are three (3) options to handling the results. 

  1. Printing – on the article display screen, click on the  button.  This will provide a printer-friendly version of the article, and then the print window will appear.
  2. Emailing – on the article display screen, click on the  button.

bulletEnter the requested information (name, email address and subject)

bulletClick on the send email button

  1. Marking – this feature allows you to save selected records for printing/emailing. To use this feature, follow the steps below:

 

bulletClick the little box to the left of the desired record(s)
bulletAt the top of the results screen, click on the Marked List tab
bulletWhen you go to your marked list, you are given three (3) options
