The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position beginning, August 2012. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate's primary responsibilities include teaching Educational Psychology; and coordinating the assessment system for the professional education unit accreditation. Additional responsibilities may include teaching Developmental Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Child Psychology and Introduction to Psychology. The candidate will be expected to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students and conduct an active research program. Other related duties include departmental committee work, curriculum and program development, securing external funding to support research and training agendas; and contribute to the mission of the department, college and university. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Educational Psychology and/or Psychology. The specific substantive area of interest is open, but applicants must have extensive training in quantitative or mixed methods research methodologies and a thorough understanding of the issues entailed in evaluating educational policies and programs. The position requires successful teaching experience in higher education in Educational Psychology or a related area such as Developmental Psychology. The use of technology in instruction, research skills and a program of research commensurate with rank sought, advising experience, and experience teaching culturally and socio-economically diverse populations is required. Ability to get along with others required. Note: Individuals with degrees outside of the US may be subject to verification. Verification of degree is the responsibility of the candidate.
