The Office of International Programs is accepting resumes/applications for the position of Coordinator for the Office of International Programs. The position is full-time and regular with benefits. The position reports to the Director of International Programs. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities: Work requires comprehensive knowledge of the departmental programs, knowledge of University and State of Maryland procedures and protocols; skill in working with issues related to policy, procedures, and confidential matters. The position requires intensive participation in the work of the Director. Additionally the Coordinator is responsible for event programming and logistics, departmental budget management, program promotion, and acting as liaison for the department with the university community. The Coordinator is responsible for both domestic and international travel arrangements for individuals and/or groups including but not limited to: Embassy interactions, obtaining VISAs, transportation arrangements, quoting and procurement of services domestic and abroad, and procurement of Medical Evacuation Insurance. The Coordinator also provides travel, scheduling, agenda development, protocol, and other arrangements for high-level visiting dignitaries. Also included in responsibilities, the Coordinator transmits administrative decisions, policies, and instructions to other staff and students, coordinates the departmental response to any inquiries, and works in partnership with the Assistant Director for UMES-DESOPADEC Scholarship Program. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree and experience with international travel and affairs required. Ability to interact appropriately with high-level dignitaries is required. Knowledge of Federal Government (i.e. USAID and USDA) policies and protocol preferred. Familiarity with university, state and federal rules and regulations preferred. Experience in setting up in-country visits, protocol and planning conferences to include international counterparts is preferred. Availability to travel (international and domestic) is required. Experience managing budgets and procurement processes is required. Proficiency with various Microsoft Office Packages required. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to complete assignments on a short-turn around and meet deadlines a plus.
