Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

Responsibilities: Assist Mathematics Laboratory Specialist in developing and maintaining robust co-curricular mathematics laboratory; ensure computer and networking capabilities to enable students to complete homework, quizzes, and examination review including online and video formats; develop and update the Department's web portal to include archiving essential documents, review materials, and examinations; developing monitoring and tracking mechanisms to determine the effectiveness of program activities; work closely with the Office of Information Technology to schedule maintenance and required updates; assist course coordinators in identifying and automating pedagogical practices that increase student learning and mastery; attend, organize, and execute recruitment events; and develop contacts with high school counselors and teachers to highlight various Departmental programs. Performs other related duties as assigned by Department Chair.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree required preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or Mathematics. Candidates possessing a degree in science, engineering, or other technical areas will be considered. A strong written and verbal communication skill including the ability to effectively communicate with faculty and students required. Must have familiarity with current successful networking and computer laboratory management environment software such as SMART, Ncomputing, etc. Candidates should be familiar with distance learning and content assistance software such as MyMathLab, WebAssign, Blackboard, etc., and other practices that lead to increased levels of learning and mastery in mathematics. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks, to assess and order priorities and to track details in an intense environment. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with others required.
