The University of Maryland Eastern
Shore invites resumes for candidates who will contribute
effectively and collegially to a positive learning environment for
a diverse student population. The position is full-time, nine
month, and tenure track with a start date of August, 2014. Salary
is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities: Coordinate all
aspects of the choral music program; direct the University Concert
Choir and Chorale; teach courses in Conducting, Introduction to
Music, Preparatory Piano Class, Piano Classes III and IV and
Applied Piano Classes; recruit undergraduates and develop
innovative programs that will enhance the Department of Fine Arts;
advise students; and serve on university committees as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Doctorate in Music or
Music Education is required. Proven successful experience as a
choral director at the college/university level preferred or a
minimum of five years successful school choral teaching experience
is expected. Candidates must have an extensive background in all
types of choral music including the African American spiritual,
gospel music, and jazz. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness
to collaborate within the department as well as colleagues at other
HBCU's in joint choral activities. The ability to get along with
