The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is accepting resumes for a full-time, nine-month position beginning Fall, 2014 in Aviation. UMES aviation student concentration includes four areas: aviation electronics, aviation management, professional pilot and software. Salary is commensurate with the degree, experience, and credentials.
Responsibilities: Teach twelve (12) semester credit hours; conducting research preferably involving students; publishing in referred journals; serving on university committees; actively pursuing accreditation and the maintenance of AABI accreditation; and advising students. The successful candidate must be able to teach subject matter to include attributes of aviation profession, career planning, and certification; aircraft design, performance, operating characteristics, and maintenance; airlines, airports, safety management systems, airspace, and air traffic control. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Aviation or related field required. Preferred qualifications include four years aviation industry or public experience; experience as a chief flight instructor; and experience as a Designated Examiner or manager of an FBO, airport, airline, or aircraft manufacturer. Candidate must be involved with a professional association. FAA certification such as CFI, Dispatcher, Air Traffic Controller, etc. is preferred. Must be familiar with the use of currently available software for instruction in Aviation Science.
