The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites resumes for a

commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Director of
Campus Life reports to the Associate Vice President of Student
Affairs and Enrollment Management.
The Director of Campus Life supervises the Associate Director of
Student Union, Assistant Director of Campus Life, Yearbook
Coordinator, Intramural Sports and Recreation Director, Greek Life
Coordinator, and the Coordinator of Student Organizations/Programs.

An integral member of the Student Affairs' team, the Director of
Campus Life will have the primary responsibility of providing
leadership for a comprehensive activities-learning program designed
to meet the educational, cultural, recreational, and social and
developmental needs of a diverse university community. Working with
student leaders, alumni, colleagues, professional associations,
local and regional community leaders, faculty and staff, the
director develops, supervises and directs programs and activities
for the university community which includes: traditional campus and
national awareness week events and celebrations; student leadership
retreats; activities calendar; homecoming; spring festival and open
house; student elections; coronation; advising student
organizations; and new student orientation. The director
facilitates student involvement, engagement, learning, leadership
and development; participates in providing leadership
opportunities, workshops, and training for student leaders, staff
and serves as advisor to the Student Government Association;
supervises and coordinates registration and volunteer experiences
and activities for all registered student organizations and
advisors; attend conferences with students when required, monitor
the system of accounting for organizations, approves funding for
various student activities and operations; and directs the daily
administration and supervision of all aspects of the Student
Services Center, its programs and staff and represents the unit and
division on university-wide committees. The director is responsible
for and assists with the planning, execution and evaluation of the
budget; training, strategic planning and developmental goal
setting; developing proposals for new programs; administrative and
procedure manuals, brochures; and special studies for the Office of
Campus Life; and assist with Commencement Exercises. The director
will be expected to research possible grant opportunities and
assist in development of potential grants or other funding.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Master's degree in student personnel, education administration,
leisure studies or related field required. Three years of
full-time, professional background experience in student activities
or student affairs. A demonstrated understanding of student
development and organizational theory required. Skills in written
and oral communication, group facilitation, and program
presentation required. Experience in office management and
management information systems operations with an understanding of
assessment and research methods preferred. Grant writing and
administration experience and fiscal management desirable.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, and
electronic mail required. Social media experience desirable.
Expertise in training and leadership development is desirable.
Ability to work evenings and weekends is mandatory.
