Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time, nine month,
tenure track faculty position at the rank of an Assistant/Associate Professor
in the field of toxicology to strengthen the Toxicology Graduate Program in the
Department of Natural Sciences. UMES is located in
rural Maryland and is one of America’s most beautiful campuses.
The Department of Natural Science is
home to the B.S. Programs in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry and Environmental
Science and graduate programs in Chemistry, Marine & Estuarine
Environmental Sciences, and Toxicology.
Responsibilities: Candidates will be responsible for teaching courses in
environmental toxicology, biochemical and molecular toxicology, and/or other
areas of specialization. They will be
expected to participate in professional and University service opportunities. The
Toxicology Program’s research objectives are aimed at molecular-driven
mechanistic research focusing on environmental toxicology and human health.
Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to supervise, advise, and mentor
undergraduate, MS, and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, and serve on
graduate thesis/dissertation committees. The successful candidate is expected
to engage in
interdisciplinary research interactions within the
University/School/Department, to establish a vibrant externally funded research
program and to cooperate with other relevant research groups at UMES and other
Qualifications: Ph.D. required. Preference will be
given to candidates with a PhD in Toxicology, or related discipline. Knowledge of
instructional technology preferred. Candidates should have a strong teaching experience in toxicology. Successful candidates will work in a
multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment and must possess excellent
communication skills (verbal and written).
The ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening hours
may be an advantage. Individuals with
degrees outside of the US may be subject to verification. Verification of
