Research Interests:
Professor Chapin s early research interests were in the area of the translation of formal and natural languages, in the structure of modal logics, and in the foundations of set-valued set theory.
Later, Chapin did sponsored work in the effectiveness of wind as a power source on the Eastern Shore and in the problems arising in the creation of medical diagnosis assistance software. More recently, Chapin has worked on problems in the complexity of translation and language learning, and the effective use of quasi-intelligent software in the learning of mathematics and of computer science.
