Effective July 1, 2011 the University is pleased to announce that it has acquired e2Campus as the vendor to provide text messaging emergency notification to the UMES campus community. The network is capable of sending emergency notifications instantly and simultaneously to all registered mobile phones, wireless PDAs, pagers, smart phones, satellite phones, and e-mail addresses.
Students, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to register for the UMES' state-of-the-art emergency notification system. It is the surest way to ensure that you will receive critical university notifications on safety issues and weather emergency alerts.
PLEASE REGISTER! IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE. This will be the surest way for you to receive emergency notifications critical to your safety and well being. Please "OPT-IN" to receive these critical emergency notifications. Have your cell phone with you and on, as you ll need it to complete the registration.
We strongly recommend that all members of the campus community register their mobile devices by logging into myUMES portal; proceed to and click on the "Sign up for Hawk Alerts" at the Mobile Device icon. This will direct you to the options of either accepting to "OPT-IN" or "OPT-OUT" of the registration process. We strongly recommend that you "Opt In" to receive Hawk Alert (e2Campus) emergency notifications.
When you have accepted the "OPT IN" option, it will direct you to the Hawk Alert (e2Campus) registration form. Once you have completed the registration form and registered the device(s) you desire to be alerted in the event of an emergency notification; you will not need to return to this registration page until one of the means you registered for emergency notification have changed. You may register up to two e-mail addresses and two SMS (text messaging) devices it s very easy to do.
To manage your Hawk Alert (e2Campus) user account, simply return to your "myUMES" page click on the "Sign up for Hawk Alerts" icon, select the manage your Hawk Alert (e2Campus) option and make the necessary changes.
For students, faculty and staff who have parents or family members who desire to receive the Hawk Alert emergency notifications, the student faculty or staff member must register that individual's device under one of their account registration device options.
Should you "OPT OUT" and desire to register at a later date, you must contact UMES Department of Public Safety to be validated for access to the program. Please contact Hawk Alert (e2Campus) system managers listed below to be granted access.
