Aug. 23, 2012 - Viewers who watched NBC's Today Show shortly after 9 o'clock today heard the University of Maryland Eastern Shore get a "shout out" from one of its regular contributors.
Attorney and TV commentator Star Jones is part of a recurring panel that discusses current events and pop culture on the morning news show.

Ms. Jones sported a maroon-and-gray ensemble and one of the new block "M" pins that UMES student activities director Jimmy Lunnermon has been giving out on campus this week.
How did this happen?
Ms. Jones was on campus Wednesday helping her nephew and his family move into one of UMES' residence halls.
At the end of the long day, Ms. Jones visited briefly with President Juliette B. Bell in an impromptu meeting and promised to wear the UMES pin when she next appeared on TV.
Not only did she wear the pin and the school's beloved colors, she mentioned the institution - by name - and how she had been on campus helping her family.
A big "Hawk Pride" shout-out back to Ms. Jones for her gracious gesture.
