Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 -- We are saddened to report that a University of Maryland Eastern Shore student died Saturday night as the result of an assult that took place on the east side of campus around 9 p.m.We had the difficult task overnight of telling the parents of Edmond A. St. Clair their son’s injuries resulted in his death. Edmond, 21, was a junior from Anne Arundel County.
There is no more heart-wrenching duty for a college administrator than conveying this kind of tragic news to not only parents and loved ones, but everyone in the UMES community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Edmond’s family and friends.
Edmond’s family has our assurance that campus police officers are working closely with the Maryland State Police, which is the primary investigative agency, to apprehend the perpetrator of this tragic crime.
Our campus emergency notification system was activated as soon as law enforcement officers were able to determine the severity of the incident.
