The University System of Maryland
(USM) and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) support the
principal that effective comprehensive intervention programs are required
in order to substantially increase the success rates of minority students
in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology (SMET). Therefore,
under the umbrella of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Participation Program
(LSAMP), UMES has joined alliance with the University of Maryland , and
University of Maryland, Baltimore County through support of the National
Science Foundation (NSF) to provide scholarships and academic support in
the SMET fields.
