Minutes of ASME Student Section Meeting

Feb. 15, 2007

11:00am-11:30pm

Attendance:

Dan Griffin, Edward Lee, Kamau Collins, LiAundra Calhoun and Dr. Yilmaz were in attendance.

Non Attending Executive Council Members

The issue of non attendance of some executive council members brought up. Dan will contact them and find out if they would like to continue. If not, they should be replaced. Dan will send another e-mail, one day before the meeting, to remind the meeting to the members.

ASEE Model Design Competition Project

Dr. Yilmaz mentioned that prototype is almost complete and, at least, three students need to work 20 hr/wk to complete the project. After short discussion, group agreed that there is not enough man power to complete the competition project on time. Lee agreed to complete the work on the prototype vehicle so that it can be used for demonstrations. New LEGO (LEGO NXT) based two prototype cars were also built and are operational. However they lack the dropping mechanism.

ASME Student Section Constitution

Dan mentioned that modified version is on the website. With the e-mail he sent he asked members to review the constitution.

Executive Council Member Replacements

Vice Chair Omar Omar has left, he needs to be replaced. Dan will check the constitution and take proper action. It is likely that executive council need to appoint someone. LiAundra is interested in the position.

Some Agenda Items for Next Meeting

- Approval of all of the previous minutes,

- Election/appointment of some executive council member(s) for open positions,

- Approval of the Constitution,

- Planning of field trips,

- Etc.
