Minutes of ASME Student Section Meeting

October 5, 2006

Attendance:

Student names given below, Dan Griffin, Dr. Yilmaz, and briefly Dr. Nagchaudhuri were in attendance.

 

Students have met to decide on which project to work. Eight students wanted to work on the ASEE project, therefore, ASEE Model Design project was selected for this year also. Since deadline was Oct. 1, if acceptable, an ACTION grant will be written and submitted to obtain funding for students to attend ASEE Conference in June 2007, in Hawaii. One of the eight students wanted to work on the ASME project also.

 

ASEE project: Lee Long, Mark Bivens, Atiya Powell, Jerome Pyuzza, Lukman Anidu, Travis Turner, Stanley Thighpen, Kaman Collins.

Info About Projects:

 

·        ASEE Model Design Competition

Consist of designing a vehicle which will deliver 6 ping-pong balls into 18 oz Solo cups located at the ends of 2ft wide, 12 ft long track. Open to freshmen and sophomore students only. Info is at: http://www.tcc.edu/faculty/webpages/pgordy/asee/ASEE2007/index.html

·        ASME Design Project- Human-Powered Potable Water Still

Consist of designing a human powered portable device that will convert dirty water to drinkable water. Open to all students. Info is at: http://www.asme.org/Communities/Students/2007_Design_Problem.cfm
