MINUTES OF ASME STUDENT SECTION MEETING

 

October 8, 2002

 

 

            Student Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME) had their first meeting on October 8, 2002.    The meeting began at 11:00a.m.Ibrahim Kanu, Brandon Cohee, Nnenna Ofurum, Denis Amisial, Akil Calwood, Isabella Jacobs and Dr. Yilmaz were present.

 

                    II.  Discussions (Minutes)

Ø       The ASME account is about $348 (Including this year’s $80) as of today, October 8, 2002.

Ø       

Ø      The Regional Student Leadership Seminar will be held on October 18-19, 2002 in Split Rock Lodge, Lake Harmony, PA.  The cost will depend on the number of students attending the seminar. Cost is $146 for a double room(two persons staying), including registration fees. ASME will reimburse up to $100.00 of each student’s expenses for up to two students. Reimbursement is for ASME members only. "SO, YOU’LL GET YOUR MONEY BACK IF YOU’RE AN OFFFICIAL MEMBER."  Also, a $25.00 registration fee has to be paid  by each attendee and the deadline for registration is October 14, 2002. Please see our faculty adviser (Dr. Yilmaz) if you are planning to attend.

Ø      Two members were elected for open positions:

Ø           V.C., Membership: Brandon Cohee.

Ø      Community service:  still open

Ø       

Ø      Activities, one of ASME speaker: (still open)

Ø       

Ø      Some of the proposed companies for field trips were: K&L Microwave, Comtek, Black and Decker, Airpax, MaTech, NASA, and GM. The first fieldtrip will be to GM Plant, in Baltimore.  Time and date will be announced later.

 

The meeting ended at 12:15p.m.
