Re: UMES Faculty Workload

Please find attached a copy of the UMES policy on faculty workload based on discussions and input received on the subject from Deans, Chairs, and faculty (through the Deans).

Although not everyone will be satisfied with this document, it is a very good start and better than the reporting system UMES currently uses. The Faculty Workload Reporting System that the System Office and the institutions of USM are initiating this year will be, in all likelihood, refined after a period of use by the USM institutions.

We intend to submit this plan to the System in the early part of next week. To that end, please let Dr. Wagonheim know of any typographical errors or any other inaccuracies in the document on or before Monday, September 25, 2000.

I wish to thank all of you personally for your efforts and for the cooperative spirit that was shown in developing the document.
