The UMES Faculty values (and accepts) the importance of their participation in all faculty related activities including meetings with administrators, faculty development workshops and other related activities. While giving these activities the priority they deserve, the faculty believe there are times when their teaching and research activities are of more significance and importance. When different activities are taking place at the same time, the faculty are qualified and professional to decide (and choose) which activity deserves their participation. Keeping these in mind, the UMES Faculty Assembly requests that campus-wide faculty meetings and related activities should not be made mandatory.
