In September of 1990, Mr. Karl White, President of the Student Government met with Dr. William P. Hytche, President of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to discuss student concerns about the level of security on the campus…Mr. White offered to Organize a group of students and to make them available to provide additional security along with the department of Public Safety. President Hytche welcomed the idea as to a plausible alternative…He later requested that Dr. Ronnie Holden, Vice President for Administrative Affairs find the financial resources necessary to fund the project. Student Security was then established in September of 1990.
