Pratt Like a Woman: Breaking Barriers with a Lesbian Paradigm in Mary Dorcey's "A Noise from the Woodshed" The title story of Mary Dorcey's award-winning short story collection, "A Noise from the Woodshed," looks at the relationship between two women, and offers the reader a paradigm which breaks a perceived barrier between the lives of lesbians and the lives of "other" women (straight, bisexual, etc.). In this paper I examine that paradigm, and suggest that Dorcey's title story subtly addresses the emerging issue of bisexuality. Return to Session XII BB Program |
