OCSS Mission

Created in January of 1998, the Office of Commuter Student Services, OCSS for short, set out to give more attention to commuter students and the needs unique to the commuter. The Office of Commuter Student Services exists to:
bulletProvide programs and services that directly address the needs of commuter students.
bulletInform students of campus events, policies, and procedures.
bulletEncourage involvement in campus life beyond the classroom.
bulletServe as an advocate for commuter student concerns.

The bottom line in the Office of Commuter Student Services is that we value commuter students and their contributions to the University.  Through our support of commuting students, we hope to encourage integration and retention among commuter students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

We understand that being a commuter student is no easy task. You will most likely have numerous outside responsibilities you must juggle along with your academics. We are aware of these challenges and are here to help.

The programs and support services currently in place to support you, the commuter, are listed elsewhere in this site. As more commuter students utilize our services and participate in OCSS programs, additional programs and services will be added. Your input is highly valued. Please let us know how we can help you.
