Choir News Guess what time of the year it is? Basket Bingo! The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Concert Choir needs your help! The UMES Concert Choir consists of a unique group of students who represent many academic disciplines. This dynamic group of people brings to the organization not only their musical talent, but their diverse backgrounds, personalities, and character traits. The choir has performed at universities; academies; public, private, and parochial schools; and churches of various denominations. In the states, our travels have taken us to Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, and New York, including a performance at the United Nations. Internationally, we have toured Trinidad; West Indies; London; Virgin Islands; Jamaica; and Nassau, Bahamas, Paris, France, and most recently; Frankfurt, Germany. Under the direction of Dr. Shelia McDonald Harleston, this thirty-one member ensemble represents six states and the District of Columbia, students of all classifications (freshmen – seniors), ten academic disciplines, and three foreign countries. In order to continue our wonderful representation of our community next spring, we have scheduled a Longaberger Basket Bingo as our main fundraiser for next year’s tour. With a date to be set soon for October 6, 2007, the basket bingo will be held in the ballroom in the Student Services Center on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Concert Choir is grateful for the community support we have received throughout the past, and would like to take this opportunity to invite you to sponsor a basket for their fundraiser or perhaps donate goods or services to fill one of the baskets to be used as a prize for a lucky bingo winner. Please know that any donation or contribution would be greatly appreciated and it would enable the choir to continue to share our gift of music with the world.
