Student Employment Opportunities

There are many opportunities available for students to work part-time on the University campus while completing their degrees. On campus student jobs are usually scheduled around each student's class schedule for the semester with limits on the number of hours a student may work per week.

Like scholarships, funding comes from many different sources, and pay rates and procedures may vary.

College Workship Program - This is a state funded program that employs students in the various departments of the University. Student job opportunities depend on the availability of state funds. Hourly wage rates vary depending on the job duties and department, but is usually above minimum wage. Contact the Office of Human Resources for more Information.

Federal Work Study Program - This is federally funded needbased, part-time student employment program open to any U.S. citizen or permanent resident who meets financial need guidelines. Awards are based on need and availability of funds. Students are placed both on and off campus (at a public or private non-profit agency which the University has entered into an agreement with) The rate of pay is at least minimum wage. Students earn payment and may work up to a maximum of 20 hours a week (depending on the award) when school is in session. For more information, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Resident Assistant Program - The Office of Residence Life regularly hires student assistants for the residence halls. This employment offers stipends which are deposited into student's account with the University. Entry Level payment is approximately equal to the housing costs each semester (this does not include meal costs). To qualify, a student must live in a residence hall for at least one-semester and file an FAFSA with the Federal Government. Selections are made by the Office of Residence Life. More information is available from the Office of Residence Life.
