Application for admission to the professional teacher education program
Directions for completing Teacher Education Application:

All students wishing to major in Teacher Education must complete the attached application no later than the end of their sophomore year. No student will be allowed to enroll in the professional education block of courses until their application has been reviewed and accepted by the Teacher Education Committee.

Applications will be accepted twice each year. Fall semester applications must be submitted no later than December 1 for consideration for Spring entrance into the Teacher Education Program. Spring semester applications must be submitted no later than May 1 for consideration for Fall entrance into the Teacher Education program.

Please complete the application carefully. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed and progress toward your degree might be slowed.

 
   

Requirements for entrance into Teacher Education are as follows:

  • Minimum 2.75 overall grade point average. Any courses transferred into the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will be counted as a part of the cumulative grade point average


  • Successful completion of PRAXIS I (Reading, Writing, Mathematics).


  • Successful completion of English Proficiency Examination(EPE)


  • Minimum of 45 earned semester hours


  • Completion of required prerequisite courses (see page 2 of application) with a grade of C or better.


  • Completion of the Application for Admission to Teacher Education.
