Frederick Douglass Library |
Reference Librarians, Teri Weil and Anne Driscoll traveled to Philadelphia to attend and present at the PALINET Annual Conference. The poster session outlined the evolution of the information literacy program provided by the Frederick Douglass Library.
Frederick Douglass Library launched ILLiad, a web-based interlibrary loan system. All requests for interlibrary loan are now submitted through ILLiad. Features include: 1) one time registration; 2) borrower information automatically supplied for all subsequent requests; 3) view and track ILL requests in a web environment; 4) Access and edit your account 24 hours a day; 5) view checked out items and request renewals online; and 6) view current and past ILL requests including the complete bibliographic citation.
The library has added the databases Science Direct. Science Direct provides access to over 2,000 journals including the full text of over five hundred journals . Articles are generally available from 1995 forward. Coverage is strongest for biology, chemistry, geology, marine science, mathematics, medicine and physics, but numerous other disciplines are represented, including business, child development, coastal resource management, computer science, economics, history, hospitality, industrial technology, library and information science, and tourism.
The library has added the electronic journal collection BioOne. BioOne is a full-text Internet-based collection of electronic journals in the biological, ecological and environmental sciences. It is available on campus through the database link and off-campus via Research Port.
