The following is a list of online databases available in the Frederick Douglass Library to assist you with research in Engineering & Technology.

EIS: Digest of Environmental Impact Statments
EIS extracts the key issues from complex government-released environmental impact statements, converting massive documents into concise, readable abstracts for Air transportation, defense programs, parks, refuges, forests. Coverage 1985 to present.

EJS E-journals
E-Journals allows search and retrieval of citations, abstracts and full text. Users have access to titles from publishers who have given EBSCO permission to re-use Table of Contents and abstract information in an aggregated database. Please note that this does not represent all of the titles available in EJS. Limiters can be utilized to further narrow search results. Most of these titles are scientific, technological or medical in nature.

Environmental Engineering Abstracts
Covers air and water quality, environmental safety, energy production from 1990 to the present.

GEOBASE
Bibliographic database for the earth, geographical and ecological sciences includes conference proceedings from 1980 to present

GreenFILE NEW
GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

Health and Safety Science Abstracts
This database provides a comprehensive, timely survey of recent work relating to public health, safety, and industrial hygiene. Cited studies are geared to help individuals identify, evaluate, and eliminate or control risks and hazards across the spectrum of environmental and occupational situations. The database provides the latest perspectives on topics of widespread concern such as aviation and aerospace safety, environmental safety, nuclear safety, medical safety occupational safety, and ergonomics. Health and safety related aspects of pollution, waste disposal, radiation, pesticides, epidemics - and countless other phenomena having the potential to threaten the public, the environment, or the workplace itself - are reported here.

MicroPatents Materials Patents
This database provides US and European patents related to materials science and engineering.

Pollution Abstracts
Air pollution, marine pollution, waste management. Coverage from 1981 to present.

Risk Abstracts
Risk Abstracts encompasses risk arising from industrial, technological, environmental, and other sources, with an emphasis on assessment and management of risk.

Science Direct
Science Direct provides access to over 2,000 journals including the full text of over five hundred journals . Articles are generally available from 1995 forward. Coverage is strongest for biology, chemistry, geology, marine science, mathematics, medicine and physics, but numerous other disciplines are represented, including business, child development, coastal resource management, computer science, economics, history, hospitality, industrial technology, library and information science, and tourism.

Science Resource Center
Science Resource Center is an in-depth, curriculum-oriented science database that provides a one-stop resource for all science-related research needs. This 24/7 resource reflects curriculum trends and focuses on key concepts taught in school classrooms including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, math, environmental science, life science, medicine, space science, computer science, technology, history of science, science and society, science as inquiry, science-related biographies and more.

Toxicology Abstracts
Toxicology Abstracts covers issues from social poisons and substance abuse to natural toxins, from legislation and recommended standards to environmental issues. Surveying the literature for toxicology studies of industrial and agricultural chemicals, household products, pharmaceuticals, and myriad other substances, each issue publishes information concerning the in vivo effects of toxic substances. Topics of current concern such as the effects of alcohol and smoking, drug abuse, hydrocarbon studies, nitrosamines, radiation and radioactive materials, and much more are extensively examined. Toxicity testing methodology and analytical procedures for toxic substances are also covered.
