What are E-books?
E-Books, eBooks, or Electronic Books, are online versions of regular print books.
E-Books at UMES
netLibrary™ offers libraries and organizations around the world the most comprehensive collection of electronic books (eBooks) available, making it possible for you to access a wide range of research, reference, and reading materials online. eBooks are electronic versions of printed books. eBooks can be viewed online on any PC connected to the Internet. You can browse eBooks for quick research and reference or check them out and read them at your leisure. Since eBooks are online, they’re available at your convenience–anywhere, anytime. You also don’t have to worry about returning them.
E-books on the Web
The National Academies produce reports and publications in science, engineering, and medicine. 3000 titles are available for online reading. Look for the Read it Online--FREE link on the left.
The CDL publishes over 1400 University of California Press books in e-editions, 400+ are free to the public. This link goes to the free title list. The Show All link goes to the full list; Search will search the entire collection. Free titles are identified by a PUBLIC icon. Sociology and history are the major topics.
