Literature Resource Center 

Literature Resource Center (LRC) is a the premier Internet resource for information on literary figures from all time periods writing in such genres as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism, and more.  LRC is enhanced by a strategic partnership with Merriam-Webster, Inc. Merriam-Webster's Encyclopedia of Literature, featuring more than 10,000 descriptive entries on literary figures, works, and terms, is included in the basic subscription to the Literature Resource Center.  LRC also includes selected full-text, excerpted, and commissioned critical material from Gale's respected Literature Criticism and For Students Series. 

To access the Literature Resource Center Database, follow the directions below: 

  1. Access the Library’s home page (www.umes.edu/fdl)
  2. Click on ‘Databases by Title’
    This will take you to an alphabetical list of databases available via the Frederick Douglass Library
  3. Scroll down and click on the link for Literature Resource Center
    If you may click on the ‘L-M’ link at the top, it will take you the group of databases that begin with “L”


 On the basic search screen, there are several search options available: 

To search Literature Resource Center, follow the directions below: 

Choose the desired search option (title)

Enter the title or title words, then click the radio button that reads:

All words entered

Click on the Search button

 

    

 The results will look like this:

 

 Click on the title to see the full text of the essay.

To print or email the essay, click on the the desired button.
