The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the chief legislative body of students in the residence halls. It provides a government as well as an informal forum to foster communication between students, staff, faculty and administration.
The Residence Hall Association is also affiliated with numerous national organizations, including the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). This is the largest student-run organization in the nation, composed of RHA groups from campuses all around the nation.
The purpose of this organization is to serve as a liason between the residential students and the Office of Residence Life. The House Council's greater purpose is to improve the quality of life in the residence halls. Specific goals include fostering a heighteneed sense of community and school spirit, promoting social, educational, and recreational learning opportunities and representing the needs of the residence hall students.
The Residence Hall Association shall strive to achieve its goals by establishing positive working relationships with the University administration, faculty, Residence Life staff, and student organizations.
