Where can I go to look for an Internship?
The web is an excellent resource. Search under www.google.com for Undergraduate Summer Internships.
You can also log onto government agency sites and search for Undergraduate Internships, such as:
Closing date Oct 15, 2004 NAIAD
You can also try colleges that have programs in your area.
The Army, Navy and other military sites often have internships if you want to join.
Also, ask the faculty in our department that have similar research interests if they know of any.
For Chem students, you can also look on the chem board on second floor. Hard copies we recieve are posted there.
Some professors tape them to their door, so walk around looking at their doors and the other boards.
To apply:
You first need to get the application package from the place offering the internship.
Please meet all their requirements and meet them by the deadline but preferably early since most positions fill early.
Remember that faculty are time constrained and you need to give them a week or two to schedule recommendation letters.
When asking for recommendation letters, it is advisable to ask those professors for whom you did outstanding work or class performance. Some professors may have so many to write that they will not have time to write yours and you will have to scramble to get someone else to write one. Yet another reason to excel in every class.
