Minutes of Emergency UMES Senate Meeting

 

1.                  WELCOME BY THE CHAIR

The meeting began at 11: 04 a.m.  The Chair, Dr. Leon Coursey, greeted the Senators and welcomed everyone to the meeting

 

2.                  MINUTES OF APRIL, 2003

The minutes of April, 2003 were approved unanimously

 

3.                  EDUCATIONAL DOCTORATE IN LEADERSHIP

The Chair, Dr. Leon Coursey, explained to all those who were present that the main objective of the emergency meeting was to deliberate on the proposal to offer a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership. Thereafter, he called upon Dr. Brenda Anderson, Dean of the School of the Arts and Professions, to present the matter to Senate. 

 

In her exposition, Dr. Anderson informed Senate that UMES had the distinct honor of being invited to join in offering the proposed doctorate program.  In addition, she explained that the proposed program would cater to the real need of educational administrators in Maryland, especially those who lived and worked in the Eastern Shore.

 

Consequently, the proposal was approved.
