Other Issues for UMES Senate

 

1.                  Admissions

a.       Ensure that there is an accurate presentation of majors offered at UMES in all information disseminated (web, brochures, applications, etc.).

b.      Revisit the format for the Admissions/Recruiting days; review the number of participants, number of participating departments/programs, frequency, etc.

 

2.                  Registration/PeopleSoft

a.       Create an all-electronic transaction for bill payment; eliminate bill worksheets so that the registration and payment process is seamless and can be done completely on-line.

b.      Notify students if they have not registered for a semester.

 

3.                  Student Records

a.       Ensure that there is timely and accurate posting of changes in major, grades, etc., on a student’s HawkWeb transcript.

b.      Ensure that there is  a timely graduation audit for all students.  This should be done and communicated well in advance of any drop/add period for students’ last semester on campus.

c.       Send the audit results to students too instead of only to their advisors.

 

4.                  Student Access to Student Services

a.       Given the large number of non-traditional students and off-campus graduate students, the University needs to have hours for student services that are user-friendly to all of its constituents (i.e., student accounts, financial aid, registrar, registration, etc.)
