The Divisions of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs partnered to receive grant funding from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) to help student complete their undergraduate college degrees.

Ms. Stephanie L. Krah, is the new Director of Retention in the Center for Access and Academic Success. Ms. Krah is from Springfield, Ohio and recently worked at Central State University. “I am extremely pleased to have Ms. Krah join both my Student Affairs team as well as UMES. I am confident that her expansive background in student and academic affairs will further foster the sound improvements we have made with regards to increasing our retention and graduation rates.”
Jinawa McNeil in the UMES admissions and recruitment office recently was a guest of the Comcast “Newsmakers” public service announcement project. Ms. McNeil offered advice about what upperclassmen in high school and their families should do to prepare for the college application process. You can see the video HERE:
UMES PR assistant Ashley Collier took on the assignment of writing a brief article (Click here to see the screenshot) about UMES students who have expressed interest in reviving a campus chapter of the NAACP. The article was posted on the UMES homepage, and picked up by JBHE, where it is now appearing online. Congratulations to Ms. Collier on her first successful “national” publicity effort!
