Among these programs are the annual SpringFest Open House, Black History Month Convocation, First Look Fair, Student Leadership Retreat, National Women's History Month Activities, Homecoming, Coronation, and Family Weekend.

SpringFest/Open House
Student Activities, working in conjunction with the Offices of Residence Life, Admissions, and Recruitment plans this annual week long event that occurs during the month of April. Prospective students, UMES students, guests, and alumni are treated to an assortment of games, novelties, vendors, music, and food. More than 1500 high school students visit the campus during the Open House/Spring Fest events, they meet with academic departments, and tour the campus. Four days of wild and crazy indoor/outdoor games start the week, followed by the Open House/Spring Fest events and a bus trip to Kings Dominion.

Black History Month Assembly
During the month of February, the Office of Student Activities sponsors the annual Black History Month Assembly. Speakers are brought to the campus to share their knowledge of African-American History, way of like, and current events and trends. Other activities highlighting culture and the arts are sponsored throughout the year.

First Look Fair
The First Look Fair is an annual event that takes place during the month of September. It is designed to give students, faculty, staff, and alumni a chance to  look at student organizations. Student organizations set up displays in the student center, sharing information about their organization with the university community. Students are provided an opportunity to learn and to gather information on how to become a member of campus organizations.

Student Leadership Retreat
The leadership retreat occurs twice a year, during the fall and spring semesters. Students are engaged in workshops, seminars, service programs, and challenging outdoor experiences. Activities are designed to develop, and enhance leadership potential.

National Women's History Month Activities
This is a national month-long celebration in honor of, and dedicated to women. Programs, seminars, speakers, and workshops are offered throughout the month of March.
Homecoming
Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are treated to some exciting basketball by the UMES men and women's basketball teams. Alumni return to campus to remember days past and to interact with matriculating students.
