ATM
(SECU)
An automated teller machine (ATM) sponsored by the State
Employees Credit Union (SECU) is located on the first floor of
the SDC. Students,
faculty, and staff at UMES are eligible to open accounts with the credit

Ballroom
A large ballroom situated on the first floor of the SSC is often
the center of major campus activities. The ballroom, along with
other areas in the SSC, can be reserved by contacting the Information
Desk at 410-651-6436.
Bike
Racks
If you have a bike on campus and you need to secure it while enjoying activities
in the Student Center, bike racks are available at two of the three entrances
of the SSC (you must provide your own lock and chain). The university assumes
no responsibility for bikes stored. Bikes are not allowed in the building.
Bookstore
Textbooks for college courses are available from the UMES Bookstore,
located in the SSC. The store sells a wide selection of merchandise that
a college student may need: notebooks, computer disks, office supplies, greeting
cards, posters, toiletries, novelty items, and official UMES (and fraternity/sorority)
sportswear and paraphernalia. Used textbooks are also available. The
bookstore accepts most major credit cards and the Hawk Express Card.
Bulletin
Boards
A number of bulletin boards are available throughout the Student Center, as
well as an outdoor information station. Students and organizations wishing
to post or distribute material indoors or out, should bring their material
to the information desk to be approved and stamped for posting. Staff at the
information desk will then post or authorize the disbursement of the material.
Material not stamped by OSA will be removed (see advertisement for specific
regulations). The University assumes no responsibility for material posted
inconsistent with this policy.
Bus
Schedules
Free Trailways bus schedules are available at the information desk for the
asking. The bus station is located 3/4 of a mile from campus in the Town of
Princess Anne. A full service station is located in Salisbury, Maryland, 30
minutes from campus. Bus service is available on campus (pick-up and drop-off)
Fridays and Sundays at the bus circle at the Richard A. Henson Center. Please
note you must have a ticket in hand prior to boarding the bus.
Change
Machine
A dollar bill change machine is located in the snack area on the main level
of the Student Center.
Chapel
A non-denominational chapel can be found on the second floor of the
Student Development Center. It is a space that is designated for
spiritual gatherings and available to students, faculty, and staff regardless
of faith. Anyone wishing to use the Chapel should see Staff at
the Information Desk.
Commuters'
Lounge/TV Room
The Commuters Lounge is located on the second floor of the SSC. The room
is equipped with tables, chairs, and a 52" color television. The lounge
is available daily until 11:00 p.m. for relaxing or studying.
Commuter's
Newsletter
The Road Hawk is a newsletter geared for commuter students. The newsletter
published quarterly, is an informative, up beat and driving force in the lives
of UMES commuters.
Game
Room
Located on the main level of the SSC, the Game Room features video games, billiards,
ping pong tables, and a juke box. Board games and playing cards are available
for check-out at the information desk. To check-out board games, students must
present a valid student identification card.
Information
Desk
The Information Desk is the focal point for student and guest services. Staffed
by students and professionals, information is provided on a variety of topics
from campus activities, to how to find your way around campus. Other desk services
include: the Student Center's lost and found, Game Room operations, board game
check out, and room reservations.
Lockers
Located on the main level near the west entrance, lockers are available for daily student
rental. Students can rent lockers for the day for $0.25. A limited number of
lockers are available for semester rental at $15.00 with a $5.00 key deposit.
To secure a rental locker, students should report to the Office of Student
Activities to complete a form and receive a key. Students assume responsibility
for items stored.
Lost
and Found
Items lost in the Student Development Center may be claimed at the Information
Desk. Found articles are held at the desk and stored there for one academic
semester. The Office of Student Activities is not responsible for lost or found
property. At the end of the semester, items not claimed are properly discarded.
Meeting
Rooms
There are several meeting rooms located on the second floor of the
SSC. These rooms can be reserved for meetings and other events. Contact
the Information Desk staff at 410-651-6436 for more information.
Off
Campus Housing Information
Located in the Office of Commuter Student Services on the second floor in the
SSC, is a listing of available housing in the Princess Anne and Salisbury areas.
The information is updated as listings are made available to the Office of

Showcases
Show cases are located on the main floor of the Student Center. Organizations
may secure use of these showcases for a limited period each semester. Forms
are available at the information desk.
Vending
Machines
A modern snack area is located on the first floor of the Student
Development Center. The snack area is equipped with a microwave oven,
soda and coffee machine as well as a sandwich and several snack machines.
A seating area for relaxing or studying is adjacent to the vending machines.
