  • Welcome to the website for the 19th Research Symposium of the Association of 1890 Research Directors, Inc. (ARD). The ARD has planned an exciting and informative conference and looks forward to repeating the success of the 2019 Symposium which engaged more than 900 registrants.     Symposium Goal:To provide a forum for interactions, knowledge sharing, building networks for expanded partnerships and to showcase the talents and achievements of the 1890 community.

    Early Registration-- $500 per participant ends Friday, November 9, 2018

    Regular Registration -- $525 ends February 24, 2019

    Late Registration-- $575, February 25- March 24,2019

    On-Site Registration -- $600

    Spouse/Significant Other Registration: -- $100 per participant

    Registration can be paid by purchase order, check or credit card. No refunds.

    (Note: Credit Card users need to add an additional $10.00 registration fee to cover bank charges).

    Each 1890 campus is invited to display one university exhibit FREE. Additional exhibits and non-1890 exhibitors must pay the fee of $2,000 by February 8, 2019. All exhibitors, including the 1890s, must submit the Exhibit Registration Form by the deadline.

    The deadline for abstracts for oral presentations is Wednesday, November 21,2018. Click here for instructions for formatting and electronic submission.

    The application deadline for the Morrison-Evans Outstanding Scientist Award and the B.D. Bayberry Young Scientist Award is January 18,2019. To submit a nominee, click here

    Special Sessions and Workshops

    A number of slots have been reserved on Tuesday afternoon (April 2nd) for special sessions and workshops on selected topics deemed appropriate to the 1890 community, including academic, research, Extension and international programs. Please submit a one-page abstract to Dr. Alton Thompson, ARD Executive Director, at, on or before December 7, 2018. These abstracts must be sufficiently detailed to allow the Symposium Steering Committee to judge the merits of the proposed session. A decision will be communicated to you by December 17, 2018.
