Summer Geoscience Bridge Program 2012

  • Program Description: Each summer the program will involve 15 to 25 students in a rigorous 6-week long education in geosciences – marine geology and chemistry, atmospheric science and physical oceanography, and remote sensing/GIS via:   1) lectures and hands-on laboratory and field activities; 2) field trips; 3) lectures, and tutorials in math to strengthen their quantitative skills, and 4) enrollment in DNSC 100, a freshman seminar course designed to facilitate the adjustment of freshman science majors to college life.   The program is funded by the National Science Foundation.

Eligibility: High school seniors with a minimum of 2.7 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 maximum scale who anticipate attending a 4 year college or university to major in any of the geoscience disciplines are eligible for this program. Preference is given to students who have already been offered admission at an institution to begin in the fall immediately after their graduation from high school.
