Meet Mr. Kevin Appleton
Mr. Kevin Appleton grew
up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his
Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Wilberforce University,
Wilberforce, Ohio. He earned his CPA
credential in 1988, is a graduate of Harvard University’s Institute for
Educational Management and also studied at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Appleton was
appointed Vice President for Administrative Affairs on June 1, 2015. Prior to coming to the University of Maryland
Eastern Shore he served as the finance and business affairs vice president for
the Southern University and A&M College system in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has held similar positions at Alcorn State
University in Mississippi, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Norfolk State
University in Virginia, Saint Joseph’s University in Pennsylvania, and Jackson
State University in Mississippi.
He holds membership in
several organizations, among which are National Association of College and
University Business Officers (NACUBO), Southern Association of College and
University Business Officers (SACUBO), Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools (SACS), and American Institute of CPAS (AICPA) to name a few.
He is a seasoned leader
with superior financial, accounting, audit, analytical, organizational, administrative,
communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
