Institutional SAT

  • The Institutional SAT at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore


    FACTS ABOUT THE EXAM:

    1. The Institutional SAT is an official College Board test made available to colleges and universities for on-campus administration.

    2. The Institutional SAT is offered only to students who wish to attend UMES.

    3. The scores are only valid for UMES and will not be transferred to another institution.

    4. Exclusive to UMES, in addition to offering students the Institutional SAT, an intensive SAT preparatory workshop will be provided the day before the test. The workshop is optional and there is no charge to attend. The workshop will be facilitated by UMES faculty. If you plan on taking the Institutional SAT, we highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.


    ELIGIBILITY:

    To be eligible, a student must:

    - Be a first-time freshman applicant.

    - Complete an Application for Admissions to UMES .

    -Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative High School Grade Point Average.

    **Student athletes may be ineligible for the Institutional SAT. If a student athlete, you should contact Mrs. Neema Connor, Associate Athletic Director, at 410.651.6496 or nconnor@umes.edu before registering.


    TEST PREP & EXAM DATE AND TIME:

    The SAT Prep Workshop will be offered the day before the Institutional SAT on Friday, June 23rd from 8:00 am-5:30 pm.

    The Institutional SAT will be offered  Saturday, June 24th. The Institutional SAT will be administered at 9:00 am. You should report to the testing site by 7:45 am. Test supervisors and proctors will close doors promptly at 8:15 am. The test will take approximately 3 ½ hours.


    COST:

    The SAT prep workshop, lunch, overnight accommodations, and the Institutional SAT, will be offered free of charge to the first 50 students who register!

    Students who do not make the 50th cut off can participate at a cost of $60.  Payment may be made by credit/debit card, or check/money order made payable to University of Maryland Eastern Shore. 

    Parents, guardians, and chaperones will need to secure meals and overnight accommodations on their own.   Recommended Hotels: The Henson, a premium comfort hotel located  right here on campus.  Book online today!


    REGISTRATION FOR THE EXAM:

    1. To register,  please complete this registration form

    2. There is limited seating, therefore it is to your advantage to register early.

    3. Registration will close on Wednesday, June 21st at 5:00 pm or once the session is full. 

    Once your completed registration is processed you will receive a confirmation letter. Information about the test site, parking, acceptable photo identification, materials to bring, and other specifics will be included.

    EXAM RESULTS:

    Institutional SAT score sheets will be sent to Collegeboard for official scoring immediately after the test administration by the test supervisors. Collegeboard requires 2-3 weeks to score. The official score reports will be sent to each test taker. The official score reports will not be reported to any scholarship agency, high school or other institution.

    *The Institutional SAT is taken at a student’s own free will. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore does not guarantee admission to any test taker. A student taking this examination must meet the minimum SAT requirement of an 930 combined Evidenced Based Reading & Writing & Math score in order to be eligible for admission.*


    ADMISSION TO THE EXAM:

    Students are required to provide a State issued Driver's License or other photo ID as outlined in the SAT registration bulletins. Students should also bring #2 pencils. No student will be admitted to an examination without proper identification. The types of calculators permitted for use on the exams are described in the registration bulletin.


    SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE EXAM:

    Due to the scope of this exam, we will not be able to provide any special accommodations, such as extended time or separate rooms, during the exam. If special accommodations are needed, we advise you to consult the SAT registration website and take the exam during a national test date.
