Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee

  • Welcome to the home for the 2018 Eastern Shore Regional Spelling Bee!

This year's Bee took place Saturday, March 3, 2018* inside the Ella Fitzgerald Center for Performing Arts (#2 on the map below) on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

James "Jake" Gordy, a seventh-grader from Somerset Intermediate School in Westover, was the bee's winner. Ava Bautista of Wicomico Middle School was the runner-up. Gordy's championship word was "morality."

The Bee began promptly at 10 a.m. Spellers arrived at 8:30 and waited inside The Hive (AKA Spellers' Room) to hear instructions and rules, and ask questions.
