    Spring Commencement  May 25, 2018
    Flag Parade - to hold flags for the various countries represented here at UMES. Flag bearers will walk in a procession from the back of the gym toward the stage, and sit in an area to the side of the stage for the entire Commencement, and need to be available from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on May 25. 

    Anyone who is interested in being a flag bearer should reply ASAP with:
    • your name
    • ID#
    • Organization for community service hours
    • Flag choice – 3 countries.  We carry one flag per country, so requests are on a first come, first served basis.  Please list a second & third choice for flags to carry. 
    • If you stay on campus, please include the name of the hall or apartment complex and the unit number, so that we can obtain permission for you to stay the extra night. 
    • Traditional clothing from your home country is encouraged!  Even if you end up carrying a flag from a different country! Hats or headdress, blouse, skirt, dress, dashiki, scarves or other garb, keeping in mind that it is a formal occasion and procession. Jeans and sneakers are not permitted.

    Rehearsal - There will also be a rehearsal the day before, May 24 , at 3:00 p.m. You will meet in the stands of Hytche Gym, look for Dr. Khoza. If you are unable to attend rehearsal due to class/exam schedule, please let us know. 

    Commencement -  May 25. We will meet in the morning, usually at 8:30 , details for meeting time and place that morning to follow.
