FACULTY LED TOURS

    FACULTY-LED TOURS ABROAD FORM

    1. Contact the Center for International Education (CIE) with your proposal nine to twelve months in advance of planned tour.

    1. Submit your travel proposal which shall include:
      • Destination institution, city, and country.
      • Duration of tour.
      • Evidence that institution is accredited for courses taken abroad
      • List of UMES faculty who will participate along with their department, school, or university unit.
      • Number of students you anticipate participating as well as the maximum number of students the tour can accommodate.
      • List of UMES course equivalents that are credit-bearing and non-credit bearing.
      • Pre-orientation and post-orientation plans.
    2. Meet with the UMES Office of Financial Aid to discuss funding, as necessary.

    1. Discuss applicability of credit-bearing courses to major/degree program with students.

    1. Submit electronic Non-UMES Study Request form(s) for each student participant if credit-bearing course(s) will be taken abroad.

    1. Address course registration with students as applicable.

    1. Contact the UMES Public Relations and CIE offices for university promotional items to be used for sharing destination images with UMES PR and CIE offices.

    1. Submit tour report to CIE within 14 days of return.

    Report to include:

    • Faculty leader(s)
    • Student participants
    • Orientation activity
    • Tour destination(s)
    • Duration of tour
    • Courses students took
    • Cultural experiences
    • Post-orientation activity
    • Student feedback
    • Faculty feedback
    • Recommendations

    Report can be sent via email to oiss@umes.edu within 14 days of return.
