Latasha Wade, Pharm.D.

    Dr. Latasha Wade is an Assistant Professor and Director of Health Disparities Initiatives at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.  She is also the UMES-based Residency Program Coordinator for the UMES/Apple Discount Drugs PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency. Latasha's teaching, research, and practice interests include cultural competency, health equity, rural health, and diversity in the pharmacist workforce. 

    In her 11 year career as a pharmacist, Latasha has held a number of positions in a variety of practice areas, including community pharmacy, geriatrics, managed care, and higher education. She is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA), and the Maryland Rural Health Association (MRHA). For her leadership and dedication to pharmacy, the academy, and her students, Dr. Wade has received several honors and awards. These include the 2009 and 2011 National Pharmaceutical Association Young Pharmacist Award, and the inaugural UMES Pharmacy Student Government Association Student Advocate Award.

    Latasha was a double major at the University of Maryland College Park, earning both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.  After earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore, MD, she completed post-graduate residency training at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Kerr Drug.
