English Proficiency Examination (EPE)

  •

    • Students must register for the EPE, ENGL 001, concurrently with ENGL 102:  Basic Composition II.
    • Transfer students with credit for ENGL 102 should register for the EPE, ENGL 001, the first semester at UMES.  It is very important for students to fulfill this requirement as early as possible in their college careers.
    • ENGL 001, the EPE, is a prerequisite for ENGL 203, ENGL 305, and ENGL 310.
    • All students registered for the EPE are in a Blackboard class, where the information below and additional information is available.

Since we are uncertain that we will be on campus during final exam week, I am testing post-ENGL102 EPE students early.  They are in socially distanced groups of no more than 12, and they must wear masks during the entire testing session.  I had sessions on Tuesday, 8/11; Saturday, 8/15; Monday, 8/24; Wednesday, 8/26; and Friday, 8/28.  I tried to have sessions on Saturday, 8/29, but the internet was out due to storm-related power outages on campus.  Therefore, there will be testing at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm in Waters 1106 on Saturday, 9/12.  After this, students will have to wait until final exam week to test.

Students registered for the EPE will sign up for their preferred sessions by replying to emails I send them.  All EPE exams are in Waters computer building.
