    These are the events that have been held at the Frederick Douglass Library or sponsored by the Library in 2011.

    July

    • 20 – Library staff from Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore participated in a one-day retreat. Salisbury University hosted the retreat.  The theme of the retreat was “Customer Service and Civility at the Workplace”.     

    April

    • 14 – Mrs. Jessie Cottman Smith, the first Dean of the Frederick Douglass Library, was awarded an exceptional honor:  the library’s exhibit room was named the “Jessie Cottman Smith Library Exhibit Room”!

    • 13 – The Library hosted an Open House to enable members of the UMES community meet Dr. Ellis Beteck, the new Dean of Library Services.  Dr. Beteck assumed duties on January 24, 2011.
