Library Instruction Request


    The Frederick Douglass Library provides instruction sessions to enhance UMES students’ research skills. Library instruction sessions are tailored to the needs of the class to assist students in completing assignments. Session may range from an overview of basic library resources to the use of advanced or subject research materials and techniques.  Faculty members are encouraged to consult with their liaisons for assistance when planning assignments which require using library resources.

    To schedule a library class:

    • Fill out the form below and you will be contacted by your liaison to get more information about the class and to finalize the date and time of the library instruction session, or
    • Call your library liaison directly to schedule a class (Library Liaison List), or
    • Call the Reference Desk at 410-651-7937 to schedule a class.

    Note: The library requires one week's notice to schedule your class session.

    Library Orientation: This includes, instruction on how to use Academic Search Premier, tour of the library, off campus access, and an explanation of how to get resources not available in FDL.

    Subject Oriented Resources: This includes demonstrations of databases related to the subject and specialized reference materials available.
