    Library Instruction

Instruction sessions are an integral component of the Frederick Douglass Library’s agenda to support the research needs of the university’s curriculum, its students, faculty, staff, and the Eastern Shore.  To support these research needs library instruction classes provide instruction in information literacy, library orientation, and utilization of digital resources both on and off campus.

A library instruction session can range from an overview of the library to advanced or subject specific research assistance.

We encourage you to contact your liaison for your department to discuss what you would like to cover in the library instruction session.  To view the library liaison list click here .

We require at least one week’s notice to schedule your library instruction session.  This allows you and your liaison to tailor the session to your students’ needs.

    Library Instruction Classroom

The Library Instruction Classroom is located in the Frederick Douglass Library in Room 1114, next to the Reference desk.  It consists of 20 student computers, an interactive SmartBoard, and 1 instructor’s computer.  The Library Instruction Classroom allows hands on experience during the library instruction session.

NOTE: If you have a larger group that you need to accommodate, we can split the class into several sections and hold several sessions, or we can come to you in your classroom.
