Our Mission

  • June 16-27, 2008

Since increasing numbers of employers are looking for dedicated scholars with Geospatial Information Technology skills and experience, high school students will have a decided edge over other students for college scholarships or competing in the new global job market of the 21st Century. Therefore, the mission of the geospatial internship program is to provide students, especially minorities, with a basic knowledge of GIS, GPS, and RS coupled with technical, analytical, academic, scientific, and social skills that will prepare them for a successful collegiate career and beyond.

Funding support for this project is provided by: 1890 Capacity Building Grants Program of the United States Department of Agriculture, UMES Agricultural Experiment Station, UMES Department of Agriculture, Food, and Resource Sciences, and the UMES Action Program supported by the National Science Foundation.
